Having trawled through the internet I bought this for the reputation, the low decibels and the low wattage. It is excellant quality and so easy to use, fully automatic and very efficient at reducing the humidity, amazing how much water it extracts!
We can sleep with it on as long as it is at a setting that only comes on 2 or 3 times. Although disturbed for the intitial first few nights as you would expect.
Looks good but although it is called 'portable' it is fairly heavy to move around and would have been better with castors on.
The laundry drying facility could also be very useful although I have not yet used it. We recommended it to friends who bought also bought one and are delighted with the product.
We are now buying another for the lower floor we are so impressed.

I purchased this de humidifier about 2 months ago. We were having problems with mould and a damp atmosphere in the house. Since we have bought this product the mould and damp have disappeared.
Our previous de humidifier was run continuously 24 hours a day - with the Mitsubishi de humidifier we only have on for short periods and the humidity goes down quickly. We first saw this de -humidifier in John Ruskin house on Lake Coniston we had paid to look around and saw they were running a de humidifier - so I assumed it must be a good one. Our house is warm and well insulated but with not enough ventilation or trickle vents on windows, the condensation was literally running off walls and windows in the winter. Mould started growing at alarming rates and I was struggling to keep on top of it. We bought this and put it on the landing and it took the humidity straight down from 80% to around 50%. No more condensation in the mornings and surprisingly it's dealt with the whole house despite being 3 stories. It's situated right outside the baby's room and although she sleeps with the door closed, it's quiet enough not to disturb her sleep at all. It sounds like a fan heater but it's really not enough to bother us at all. I can't speak for the running costs as I've not had a power bill but the alternative is expensive damage to the house and mould growth which can cause serious health problems so I have no doubt it's well worth it. Yes this is an expensive bit of kit but it does the job perfectly and hopefully the build quality will mean it lasts many years. I believe you mostly get what you pay for with appliances and electrics so it's best to buy the best quality that you can afford. Simple to use too. Highly recommended!
